A is For Apple Inc. is an approved vendor for all Bay Area Regional Centers.

What is a Regional Center?

California’s Regional Centers serve people with developmental disabilities.

See our list of Bay Area Regional Centers below.

Established by the Lanternman Developmental Disabilities Act, Regional Centers assist schools, counties and families with:

  • Developmental assessments
  • Educational resources
  • Coordination in finding services, like behavioral health treatment
  • And finding treatment providers. Parents can go to a hospital or doctor to perform an assessment on your child. OR they can go to a state regional center & have the assessment for free. Regional Centers also partner with counties’ offices of education.

The last service is where A is for Apple comes in.  Regional Centers will refer you to approved vendors depending on the treatment your child needs, and where you’re located.  We are a longtime approved vendor for Early Intervention, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech-Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy in California’s Bay Area and Santa Cruz region.

Senate Bill 946 – How It Affects You

On July 1, 2012, Senate Bill 946 (SB946) went into effect.

Before SB946, insurance providers would not pay for autism-related therapies.  They only paid for ABA.  Now SB946 requires every private insurance provider to provide coverage for autism treatment services.  Plus it changes the coverage standards for early intervention.

Because of the new law, Regional Centers can refer many more children to autism treatment providers like us.  Better insurance coverage means your child’s therapy isn’t held up by bureaucracy.  It’s just your child and our therapist, helping them thrive.

Educational Autism VS. Medical Autism

Regional Centers often refer children who are diagnosed with educational autism.  However, for insurance to cover some treatments such as ABA, you’ll need a diagnosis of medical autism.  Please be aware of the difference, and ask your Regional Center for assistance.  Or call us and we’ll advise you on the diagnosis.

Why Regional Centers Choose A is For Apple

Regional Centers refer parents to us because we’re a complete therapy provider for children with developmental delays, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Our evidence-based approach and full set of trained therapists make us the best choice in the Bay Area.
